Bellavita Expo Amsterdam 2020 presents a food & wine pairing workshop, introducing guests to the latest in Italian wines set to dominate the Dutch market, hosted by sommelier and wine consultant Janna Rijpma Meppelink.
Taking place on Tuesday 14 January from 13:45 – 14:30, this masterclass will give guests an insight into the latest and upcoming trends in wine, and what they should expect through the coming year in regards to the popularity of Italian wine among consumers in the Netherlands.
Following this introduction to the current position of the market, three different, carefully curated wines from across some of Italy’s many wine-producing regions, selected for their provenance, characteristics, flavours and aromas will be showcased for guests to enjoy. These wines will be paired with complimenting sets of international finger food, prepared by Bellavita Resident Chef Nicoletta Tavella.
Janna Rijpma Meppelink is a sommelier, certified wine consultant and writer, and owner of N.O.M.O.H. wine consultancy. She is the author of several wine books, including five editions of “The Wine Guide for Business” and “Janna: The Wine Guide (Only) For Women.” In July 2019, she hosted The Night of Wine festival in Central Studios, Utrecht, with Milan Gennissen.
She is a member of national and international wine juries for Vinitaly, Decanter, Concours Mondial du Bruxelles, Mundus Vini and Concours du Vin. Since 2012, Janna has been a board member in the Devoir of the Order the Compagnons du Beaujolais.
At Bellavita Expo Amsterdam 2019, she hosted a panel discussion featuring industry professionals and buyers on the positioning of Italian wines in the Benelux region. This year, she will provide a more sensorial journey through Italian wine, certain to invigorate any wine lover’s Bellavita experience.
