Bellavita Expo Amsterdam 2020 will feature the debut of the Bellavita Olive Oil Lab, a tasting and learning experience featuring premium Mediterranean olive oils, hosted by olive oil sommelier Francesca De Ritis, taking place at Bellavita Food & Wine Academy on Tuesday 14 January from 15:00 - 15:45.
Guests attending this masterclass will enjoy a concise introduction on how to taste and appreciate the qualities of four curated extra virgin olive oils. Following this presentation will be a blind technical tasting exercise involving four premium olive oils from Italy and Spain, thanks to Bellavita’s co-location this year with Ibérica Expo.
The exercise will introduce the professional tasting methods and analysing the attributes of each, as well as the best food combinations advised for each oil by Francesca. Afterwards, guests will have the chance to meet and confer with the producers, all of whom will be exhibiting at this year’s show.
Francesca De Ritis is an olive grower and expert from Abruzzo, now based professionally in The Netherlands. She is professional olive oil taster and trainer, working with the National Organisation of Olive Oil Tasters (O.N.A.O.O.) to host regular tasting and training sessions, as well as providing consultancy services to chefs, retailers and restaurants on shelf space, food pairings and the health benefits of extra virgin olive oil. An expert on the olive oil producing countries of Europe and North Africa, in 2018 she graduated as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, NY.
